Boiling Away.

We spent most of Saturday and part of Sunday boiling down our first batch of sap for the 2010 season. It felt spectacular to feel the sun kiss my face and sit around the fire with a new hat on the knitting sticks! After learning last year that we needed more surface area to boil the water off quicker Jon built this concrete block wood fired set-up complete with chimney! Our efforts this weekend yielded 3 1/2 quarts.

I finished the Spunky Eclectic Fake Isle hat for Jon, although it is even big for his large head so I’ll have to do my best to shrink it just right… wish me luck!
