Waiting patiently for a night without frost, a day without rain and the second half of the garden fence to go up.

Obviously we still need some steps and railings! My hamstrings are a bit tight from bending over with the drill for two days and of course Barley was sulking because he couldn’t come out on the deck until it was finished…DSC00706

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone… I just might spend some of mine on the back deck!

Look who has decided to make herself at home in an unfinished eave. Jon is not quite as excited about it as I am!

Nesting and jesting.

P.S. We sold the pop-up camper about 20 minutes after it had been on Craig’s List. That sucker is gone, wahooooooo! Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

The worst thing about black flies is when they follow you into the house and try to procreate on your vegetable seedlings. Of course when black fly season passes, mosquito and horsefly season begins. If anybody knows a of a non-toxic way to keep these nasty buggers away (other than a head net) please fill me in on the secret! My soon to be father-in-law reminded me yesterday that I only have 3 and 1/2 months until wedding day… wow I need to get cracking on more than just the yard work!

I made a quick run to the landscape place mid-day yesterday to get another yard of mulch for the garden and we spread  it last night. We wanted to get it in before the supposed downpours that may occur this week. I wouldn’t want to lose all that loam in the beds that broke my back shoveling on Sunday!  The boys aren’t so content about not being able to be outside while we are working but they always seem to get in the way… poor puppies.

Black flies and busy bees.

The black flies could not keep Jon and I inside this weekend… we had work to do! Although Saturday seemed a bit of a waste after running errand after forgotten errand following a morning of transcribing, Sunday was a day for blasting out the work! With our MBPN Sunday line-up as a companion we cranked out raised bed after raised bed in the garden. Around In Tune By Ten we had the skeleton of the first bed in place and level. By A Prairie Home Companion the entryway was up and the first two beds were in and filled with loam. When the Vinyl Cafe rolled around the third and fourth beds were in and when Click and Clack wrapped up this weeks edition of Car Talk we were about done for the day with the exception of a brief dump run (they almost closed the gates on us!). All in all, I’m pretty impressed with Sunday’s work. Have a look for yourself!
